ENsource - Associated partner

ENsource is provided with additional support and expertise by a number of high-quality external research institutes: (1) the Institute of Thermodynamics and Thermal Engineering (ITW) at the University of Stuttgart, (2) the Institute of Technical Energy Systems at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), which works in close cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE; both are represented by Prof.Dr Hans-Martin Henning (KIT) in his capacity as a professor at KIT and Deputy Director of Fraunhofer ISE) and (3) the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW).

All (non-)university partners were recruited specifically for ENsource. ZSW and Fraunhofer ISE provide experience in the modelling and optimization of large overall systems at municipal, regional and national level. Their top-down approach involves the use of demand profiles in the form of aggregated profiles based on measurements and/or simulations. Their main area of focus is the high-resolution, chronological demonstration of interactions between components of different types in the electricity, heat and mobility segments of the energy sector. Consumers are only factored in on an aggregated, simplified basis.
